This is an essay that I wrote this school year for my English 101S class. The essay is a rhetorical analysis on an article by Enoch Jemmot called, "The Implicit Punishment of Daring to Go to College When Poor." I believe that this essay shows my growth in English because the teacher enjoyed reading it very much, and the subject was not my strong suit in high school. It definitely is not a perfect piece of writing, but I am proud of the assignment. I chose this assignment because I really liked the topic of the essay, and believe that it is important to spread awareness about the issue. The article I got my information from for this essay was about the struggles and hardships of young adults from low socio-economic households. The article mainly focuses on applying to college, and how many teens have a lot less help than other teens during this process. When more people will be aware of this issue, it will lead to more people educating themselves about it, and ultimately more people will desire change. One of the only ways to make change in the US, is to form a large union of people that believe in the same cause. Actions such as these exemplify the importance of issues in the US.
